Make quick, convenient connections with TECNI’s range of carbine hooks, also known as snap hooks or carabiners. Choose from stainless steel or zinc-plated options, with an eye, without an eye, or with a locking gate.
An eye helps retain your cable or attachment at the base of the hook. Versions without an eye allow easier attachment and removal, while a screw-lock gate provides an additional closure.
Understanding hook sizes
Sizes indicate the material diameter × overall length, in millimetres. For example, 3–30 means the hook is made from 3 mm diameter material and measures 30 mm in overall length.
Select your material, style and size above, and check the relevant datasheet for dimensions and breaking-load information.
Applications & Advice
Applications & Advice
Carbine hooks provide a removable connection between compatible cable eyes, ropes, chains, eye plates and other fittings.
Choosing your hook
- With eye: Helps keep your cable or attachment positioned at the base of the hook.
- Without eye: Allows straightforward attachment and removal.
- Locking gate: A screw sleeve helps prevent the gate from opening unintentionally. Close the gate and tighten the sleeve before use.
Check that the gate opening and internal dimensions accommodate your connecting fitting. The gate should close fully without obstruction.

Technical Info
Technical Info
The stainless steel hooks covered by our datasheets are A4 / AISI 316 stainless steel, material number 1.4401. Zinc-plated versions are also available.
Dimensions and breaking loads vary by size and style. Refer to the datasheet matching your selected TECNI part code.
Breaking load is not a Working Load Limit (WLL) or Safe Working Load (SWL). A locking gate does not establish suitability for lifting, climbing or personal fall protection. Contact TECNI before selecting a hook for a safety-critical application.
Inspect the hook and gate before use. Remove damaged, distorted or excessively worn hooks from service.
Dimensions
Dimensions
Hook sizes are shown as material diameter × overall length, in millimetres.
For example, 4–40 means a hook manufactured from 4 mm diameter material with an overall length of 40 mm.
The dimension drawings identify:
- Ø: Material diameter
- L: Overall length
- C: Gate opening width
- iD / iD1: Internal diameters
- iB: Internal width
Use the relevant datasheet found in our 'Downloads' section, to check clearance and fit before ordering. Hooks with the same nominal size can have different dimensions depending on their style.
