US type, forged, heavy duty, U-bolt wire rope grips are generally in accordance with BS EN 13411-5 (US spec FFC450 Type 1 Class 1) except in A4-AISI 316 stainless steel material.

Forged U-bolt clips are much stronger and more consistent than cast clips meaning fewer are needed per termination. Ideal for critical applications where assurance of strength, reliability and performance is required.

The broad saddle section of the clip gives superior support to the load bearing section of the wire rope compared with other grip designs.

The u-bolt section of the clips have larger thread sizes than cast clips and are designed to take the recommended torque settings, giving you much greater strength and tightening capability.

Applications & Advice

** Recommended number of grips per end = 3 grips **
Applications include suspending static loads and single load lifting operations which have been assessed by a competent person taking into account appropriate safety factors. This includes zip wires, mast stays, catenary systems, ie applications where assurance of strength, reliability and performance is required.
Note they are NOT suitable for use with spiral ropes. Nor does this standard cover U-Bolt wire rope grips as the primary securing devices on mine hoists, crane hoists or eye terminations for slings for general lifting service.
