The Drop Forged High Tensile Steel Eye & Eye Turnbuckle is designed for reliable tensioning and adjustment of wire rope and cable assemblies in applications requiring strength and durability.

Manufactured from high tensile SAE 1035 or SAE 1045 steel, these turnbuckles feature a drop forged construction for strength and dependable performance. The eye fittings at both ends provide secure connection points, while the adjustable central body allows precise control of cable tension.

Manufactured generally in accordance with ASTM F1145-92, formerly US Federal Specification FF-T-791b, these turnbuckles are available in a range of sizes and Working Load Limits (WLL) to suit different applications.

Applications & Advice

Suitable for a range of cable tensioning applications where a load-rated fitting is required, including:

  • Industrial Cable Systems – Tensioning wire rope assemblies in industrial installations.
  • Structural Bracing – Adjusting tension in suitably engineered bracing and support systems.
  • Construction Applications – Providing adjustable tension in appropriately designed cable and support installations.
  • Architectural Cable Systems – Tensioning structural and architectural wire rope assemblies.
  • General Rigging Applications – Suitable for appropriately designed rigging and tensioning systems requiring secure eye-to-eye connections.

Before installation, ensure the selected turnbuckle size and Working Load Limit are suitable for the intended application and compatible with the connecting fittings.

  • Inspect for damage, wear or corrosion before use.
  • Ensure both threaded ends are securely engaged within the turnbuckle body.
  • Adjust tension evenly by rotating the central body, keeping the load aligned with the centre line.
  • Ensure both eye fittings are securely connected using compatible, appropriately rated components.
  • Avoid side loading, shock loading or forcing the turnbuckle into position.
  • Keep threads clean and free from debris.
  • Regularly check for wear, deformation, damaged threads or corrosion.

Important: The Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) is five times the Working Load Limit (WLL). Always refer to the WLL of the selected product size and never exceed the manufacturer's rated capacity. For lifting or safety-critical applications, confirm the product's certification and suitability before use.
